Rod Quinn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

How many years how many years have fledA
Since in the cool dim parlour sat the threeB
Lawson and I and lounging easilyB
The beaming indolent poet Then insteadA
Of labouring weary at the mill we ledA
The careless life of wanderers frank and freeB
And had the wealth of a new found world in feeB
How pitiless time gropes on with tireless treadA
A glass was raised and golden liquor glowedC
When a ray from summer streets came piercing inD
He drank the sunlight in the gloomy placeE
And now I know the magic drink bestowedC
A vital golden splendour on Roderic QuinnD
Which fumbling fingers of Time will scarce effaceE
