Rebel Hearts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GBGB HIHI JKJK LFLF

An outcry in the bush belowA
A crash and boughs that swayB
And shouts of laughter let me knowA
Where my two ruffians playB
-
Barelegged bareheaded brown and freeC
They lurk and prowl and springD
Like tiger cubs they disagreeC
Like honeysuckers singD
-
For in their hearts are echoes yetE
From ages when they knewF
The caves of green they now forgetE
Though there they climbed or flewF
-
No cage set limits to their paceG
They held the hunt at bayB
And in their careless mien I traceG
The savage mood to dayB
-
They'll take no tidal drift nor lieH
And rot like souls of mudI
For sullen lip and flashing eyeH
Betray the rebel bloodI
-
Go flout the law your hearts disdainJ
Your foes are well arrayedK
And take for guerdon love and painJ
And triumph unafraidK
-
In jungles where the night impartsL
Her secret lore to youF
Lie still and listen to your heartsL
Be true my sons be trueF
