Lali Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL HMHM

While the summer day is hotA
You and I will loaf awhileB
Lolling in a leafy spotA
Lali of the cunning smileB
-
You and I have little careC
How the precious moments passD
While we snuff the drowsy airC
Rich in fragrance of the grassD
-
Stupid people boom or squealE
Lessons drawn from daily strifeF
Time they cry is on the wheelE
Death puts out the gas of lifeF
-
Imitate the prudent antG
Labour like the busy beeH
O the everlasting cantG
Loafing's good for you and meH
-
Here we watch the ants that haulI
Loads by weary jungle waysJ
If they like it let them crawlI
Laden through the heavy blazeJ
-
We've no time for moral tagsK
We can hear a sleepy soundL
With his yellow tucker bagsK
Brother Bee is bumming roundL
-
Little souls are vexed to seeH
How their hours of toil decreaseM
Floating dreams for you and meH
Lazy joy in starry peaceM
