| And shamble lost along a shimmering track | A |
| This is the comfort of the world Alack | A |
| So youth s illusions die that we may gain | B |
| Wisdom and strength to face our lifelong pain | B |
| The truth from which no man shall turn him back | A |
| Falter for no such melancholy lies | C |
| For by one holy touch the spirit is healed | D |
| To know its treasure of sight and sound and scent | E |
| Veil after veil the earthborn fogs arise | C |
| Star beyond star the heavens are then revealed | D |
| And truth is fair in love s enlightenment | F |
