Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCA DEEDFFD GHHGIIG JKKJLLJ MNNMOPM QRRQSSQ TUUTVVT WXXWYYW ZA2A2ZLLZ

Grant me a moment of peaceA
Let me but open mine eyesB
Forgetting the empire of liesB
And warfare's majestic increaseA
Of national folly and hateC
Ere I return to my fateC
Grant me a moment of peaceA
-
To what is I would turn from what seemsD
From a world where men fall and adoreE
The god that Fear shuddering boreE
To Greed in the desert of dreamsD
Unholy inhuman impureF
From the State to the loves that endureF
To what is I would turn from what seemsD
-
No man has been richer than IG
Though he staggered with infinite goldH
And bought of whatever is soldH
Of the beauty that money can buyG
In the wealth that is lost in the martI
And is stored in the innermost heartI
No man has been richer than IG
-
Humbly a pilgrim I stoodJ
Weary and hungry and lameK
And out of the multitude cameK
Friends who were better than goodJ
Friends who would not be deniedL
Where by the palpitant tideL
Humbly a pilgrim I stoodJ
-
Now to my army of friendsM
A handful of petals I flingN
Strays of perennial springN
Weeds but the lover who sendsM
Bled that each blossom might liveO
This is myself that I giveP
Now to my army of friendsM
-
Comrade in exile to youQ
Chiefly the gift should belongR
You who will hear in my songR
Echoes of days that we knewQ
Blue and deep droning and clearS
Far in the hills that are dearS
Comrade in exile to youQ
-
Pause and remember them nowT
Plunge as you dived in the streamU
To the sweet cool depth of your dreamU
The drooping sheltering boughT
The brown rock lettered aboveV
The still interfusion of loveV
Pause and remember them nowT
-
There as we lay in the caveW
And saw as an eye of the darkX
The camp fire's slumbering sparkX
And heard the cataract raveW
Your soul and my soul were as oneY
Our life in one channel has runY
There as we lay in the caveW
-
Forth to the task of a manZ
Youth and the valour of youthA2
Force and the ardour of truthA2
Give you a place in the vanZ
Love keeping step at your sideL
Chanting aloud as you strideL
Forth to the task of a manZ
