Buffalo Creek Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

A timid child with heart oppressedA
By images of sinB
I slunk into the bush for restA
And found my fairy kinB
-
The fire I carried kept me warmC
The friendly air was chillD
The laggards of the lowing stormC
Trailed gloom along the hillD
-
I watched the crawling monsters meltE
And saw their shadows waneF
As on my satin skin I feltE
The fingers of the rainF
-
The sunlight was a golden beerG
I drank a magic draughtH
The sky was clear and void of fearG
I stood erect and laughedH
-
And sudden laughter idly freeI
About me trilled and rangJ
And love was shed from every treeI
And little bushes sangJ
-
The bay of conscience' bloody houndK
That tears the world apartL
Has never drowned the silent soundK
Within my happy heartL
