They're all buildin nests for thersenA
One bi one they goa fleetin awayB
A suitable mate comes an thenA
I'th' old nest they noa longer can stayB
Well it's folly for th' old en's to freeatB
Tho' it's hard to see loved ones departB
An we sigh let a tear drop an yetB
We bless 'em an give 'em a startB
-
They've battles to feight 'at we've fowtB
They've trubbles an trials to faceC
I'th' futer they luk an see nowtB
'At can hamper ther coorse i' life's raceC
Th' sun's shinin soa breetly they thinkD
Sorrow's claads have noa shadow for themE
They walk on uncertainty's brinkD
An they see in each teardrop a gemE
-
Happy dreams 'at they had long agoF
Too sweet to believe could be trueG
Are realized nah for they knowF
Th' world's pleasures wor made for them twoG
We know 'at it's all a mistakF
An we pity an yet we can prayB
'At when th' end comes they'll nivver luk backF
Wi' regret to that sweet weddin dayB
-
God bless 'em may happiness dwellH
I' ther hearts tho' they beat in a cotB
An if in a palace well wellH
Shall ther young love be ever forgotB
Nay nay tho' old Time runs his ploughI
O'er fair brows an leaves monny a groveJ
May they cloiser cling th' longer they growF
Till two lives blend i' one sacred loveK
-
Bless th' bride wi' her bonny breet e'enA
Bless th' husband who does weel his partB
Aye an bless those old fowk where they've beenA
The joy an the pride ov ther heartB
May health an prosperity sitB
At ther table soa long as they liveL
An accept th' gooid wishes aw've writB
For they're all 'at aw'm able to giveM
