Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ADADAAAA EFEFAGAG AHAHHIHI JHKHALAL

It wor th' owd owd story he towd herA
Th' story 'at's owder nor timeB
Nowt ivver chap whisper'd wor owderA
Nowt ivver soa grand an sublimeB
For man nivver towd ither storyA
Soa chock full ov magic as thisC
For it shraaded th' young chaps i' gloryA
An' filled her 'at listened wi' blissC
-
Th' story had wrought sich a wonderA
Noa ither tale ivver has doneD
Two hearts that afooar wor assunderA
Wor knit i' a crack into oneD
An' still he kept tellin' her th' storyA
Which mooar an' mooar wonderful grewA
Soa oft its been tell'd its grown hoaryA
But shoo could hav sworn it wor newA
-
Shoo thowt of th' angels above 'emE
Wor jealous o' her an' him thenF
For angels has noa chaps to love 'emE
Love's nobbut for wimmin an' menF
But th' love i' her heart ovvercame herA
An' shoo pitied th' whole angel thrangG
Aw know what love is an' dooant blame herA
An' aw dooant think her pity wor wrangG
-
Th' story wor towd an' for everA
It wor noa gurt shakes what might befallH
Nowt but deeath these two hearts could severA
An' that nobbut partly net awlH
For love like one's soul is immortalH
If its love it wont vanish awayI
Its birth wor inside o' th' breet portalH
Ov Eden it knows noa decayI
-
Sin' then it has lived on while th' agesJ
Has rowled on wi' uniform flowH
As young an as fresh as when sagesK
Towd ther sweethearts it cent'ries agoH
An' chaps 'll be tellin th' storyA
Th' breet owd owd story ov loveL
When time an' love fade inter th' gloryA
'At streams thro' th' manshuns aboveL
