Once Upon A Time. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFHIEIE BJBJKEKE LMLMNEOE

When dull November's misty shroudA
All Nature's charms depressB
Flinging a damp dark deadening cloudA
O'er each heart's joyousnessB
Our fancies quit their lighter veinC
And out from Memory's shrineD
We marshal thoughts of grief and painC
Known once upon a timeE
-
'Tis then that faces long forgotF
In shadows reappearG
Voices that once we heeded notF
Come whispering in the earH
And ghosts of friends whom once we metI
When life was in its primeE
Recall acts we would fain forgetI
Done once upon timeE
-
Regretfull sighs for thoughtless deedsB
That worked another wrongJ
Vows that we broke like rotten reedsB
Like spectres glide alongJ
Tears naught avail to heal the smartK
We caused nor deemed it crimeE
Whilst selfishly we wrung a heartK
Loved once upon a timeE
-
Oh could we but as on we goL
Care more for other's wealM
Nor deem all joys earth can bestowL
Are but for us to feelM
Then howe'er humble howe'er poorN
Our lives would be sublimeE
Nor should we dread to ponder o'erO
Days once upon a timeE
