Nearing Home. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDAD AEAFGHGH GIGIJBGB

We are near the last bend of the riverA
Soon will the prospect be brightB
Already the waves seem to quiverA
As touched with celestial lightB
Since first we were launched on its bosomC
Strange hap'nings and perils we've passedD
But we've braved and endured them togetherA
And we're nearing the haven at lastD
-
We are near the last bend of lifes riverA
Around all is tranquil and calmE
The tempests that passed us can neverA
Again strike our souls with alarmF
We are drifting unconsciously glidingG
Down Time's river my darling and meH
And soon in love's sweet trust abidingG
We shall sail on Eternities seaH
-
Oh how the soul strains with its yearningG
To see what is hid beyond thisI
This life with its pain and heartburningG
The beyond where is nothing but blissI
Our life's Sun has touched the horizonJ
It will speedily dip out of sightB
And then what Will a new morn be risingG
Or will it for ever be nightB
