Well Robert what's th' matter nah munA
Aw see 'at ther's summat nooan sweetB
Thi een luk as red as a sunA
Aw saw that across th' width of a streetB
Aw hope 'at yor Lily's noa warC
Surelee th' little thing is'nt deeadB
Tha wod roor aw think if tha darD
What means ta bi shakin thi heeadB
Well aw see bi thi sorrowful e'eE
At shoo's gooan an' aw'm soory but yetB
When youngens like her hap ta deeE
They miss troubles as some live to hitB
Tha mun try an' put up wi' thi lossF
Tha's been praad o' that child aw mun sayG
But give over freatin becossG
It's for th' best if shoo's been taen awayG
A'a Daniel it's easy for theeE
To talk soa becoss th' loss is'nt thineH
But its ommost deeath blow to meE
Shoo wor prized moor nor owt else 'at's mineH
An' when aw bethink me shoo's gooanH
Mi feelins noa mortal can tellI
Mi heart sinks wi' th' weight ov a stooanH
An' aw'm capped 'at aw'm livin myselI
Aw shall think on it wor aw to liveJ
To be th' age o' Methusla or moorK
Tho' shoo said 'at aw had'nt to grieveL
We should booath meet agean shoo wor sureK
An' when shoo'd been dreamin one dayG
Shoo said shoo could hear th' angels callI
But shoo could'nt for th' life goa awayG
Till they call'd for her daddy an' allI
An' as sooin as aw coom thro' my warkM
Shoo'd ha' me to sit bi her bedB
An' thear aw've watched haars i'th' darkN
An' listened to all 'at shoo's saidB
Shoo's repeated all th' pieces shoo's learntB
When shoo's been ov a Sundy to th' schooilI
An ax'd me what dift'rent things meantB
Woll aw felt aw wor nobbut a fooillI
An' when aw've been gloomy an' sadB
Shoo's smiled an' taen hold o' mi handB
An whispered 'yo munnot freat dadB
Aw'm gooin to a happier landB
An' aw'll tell Jesus when aw get thearK
'At aw've left yo here waitin his callI
An' He'll find yo a place niver fearK
For ther's room up i' heaven for all 'O
An' this mornin when watchin th' sun riseG
Shoo said 'daddy come nearer to meE
Thers a mist comin ovver mi eyesG
An' aw find at aw hardly can seeE
Gooid bye kiss yor Lily ageanH
Let me pillow mi heead o' yor breastB
Aw feel now aw'm freed thro' mi painH
Then Lily shoo went to her restB
