Do Your Best And Leave The Rest. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE AGFGHEIE JKLKLEHE JMJMFEFE

As through life you journey onwardA
Many a hill you'll have to climbB
Many a rough and dang'rous pathwayC
You'll encounter time and timeB
Now and then a gleam of sunshineD
Will bring hope to cheer your breastE
Then press onward ever trustingF
Do your best and leave the restE
-
Though your progress may be hinderedA
By false friends or bitter foesG
And the goal for which you're strivingF
Seems so far away who knowsG
You may yet have strength to reach itH
E'er the sun sinks in the westE
Ever striving still undauntedI
Do your best and leave the restE
-
If you fail as thousands must doJ
You will still have cause for prideK
You will have advanced much furtherL
Than if you had never triedK
Never falter but rememberL
Life is not a foolish jestE
You all are in the fight to win itH
Do your best and leave the restE
-
If at last your strength shall fail youJ
And your struggles have proved vainM
There is One who will sustain youJ
Soothe your sorrow ease your painM
He has seen your earnest strivingF
And your efforts shall be blestE
For He knows that you though failingF
Did your best He'll do the restE
