Greeting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDB EEFGGF HHIJKI LLMNNM OOPQQP

I spread a scanty board too lateA
The old time guests for whom I waitA
Come few and slow methinks to dayB
Ah who could hear my messagesC
Across the dim unsounded seasD
On which so many have sailed awayB
-
Come then old friends who linger yetE
And let us meet as we have metE
Once more beneath this low sunshineF
And grateful for the good we 've knownG
The riddles solved the ills outgrownG
Shake bands upon the border lineF
-
The favor asked too oft beforeH
From your indulgent ears once moreH
I crave and if belated laysI
To slower feebler measures moveJ
The silent sympathy of loveK
To me is dearer now than praiseI
-
And ye O younger friends for whomL
My hearth and heart keep open roomL
Come smiling through the shadows longM
Be with me while the sun goes downN
And with your cheerful voices drownN
The minor of my even songM
-
For equal through the day and nightO
The wise Eternal oversightO
And love and power and righteous willP
Remain the law of destinyQ
The best for each and all must beQ
And life its promise shall fulfilP
