Ah fading joy how quickly art thou pastB
Yet we thy ruin hasteC
As if the cares of human life were fewD
We seek out newD
And follow Fate which would too fast pursueD
See how on every bough the birds expressE
In their sweet notes their happinessF
They all enjoy and nothing spareG
But on their mother Nature lay their careG
Why then should man the lord of all belowH
Such troubles choose to knowH
As none of all his subjects undergoH
Hark hark the waters fall fall fallI
And with a murmuring soundJ
Dash dash upon the groundJ
To gentle slumbers callI

I look'd and saw within the book of fateK
When many days did lourL
When lo one happy hourM
Leap'd up and smiled to save the sinking stateK
A day shall come when in thy powerM
Thy cruel foes shall beN
Then shall thy land be freeN
And then in peace shall reignO
But take O take that opportunityN
Which once refused will never come againP
