Winter Remembered Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB FBFB GDGD

Two evils monstrous either one apartA
Possessed me and were long and loath at goingB
A cry of Absence Absence in the heartA
And in the wood the furious winter blowingB
-
Think not when fire was bright upon my bricksC
And past the tight boards hardly a wind could enterD
I glowed like them the simple burning sticksC
Far from my cause my proper heat and centerD
-
Better to walk forth in the frozen airE
And wash my wound in the snows that would be healingB
Because my heart would throb less painful thereE
Being caked with cold and past the smart of feelingB
-
And where I walked the murderous winter blastF
Would have this body bowed these eyeballs streamingB
And though I think this heart's blood froze not fastF
It ran too small to spare one drop for dreamingB
-
Dear love these fingers that had known your touchG
And tied our separate forces first togetherD
Were ten poor idiot fingers not worth muchG
Ten frozen parsnips hanging in the weatherD
