The Resurrection Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDFGHGHIJLONG long before men die I sometimes read | A |
Their stoic backs as plain as graveyard stones | B |
An epitaph of poor dead men indeed | C |
I never pass those old and crooked bones | B |
Ridden far down with burden and with age | D |
Stopping the headlong highway till they lean | E |
Aside in honor of my equipage | D |
But I am sick and shamed that Heaven has been | F |
So clumsy with the inelastic clay | G |
'What pretty piece of hope then have you spun | H |
My old defeated traveler ' I say | G |
'That keeps you marching on For I have none | H |
I have looked often and I have not found | I |
Old men bowed low who ever rose up sound ' | J |
