It goes as soon as it began | D |
It beckons many ways at once | E |

The lamps are shining equal well | G |
But in her eyes are other lights | H |
And lights plus other lights will tell | G |
He loves the brightness of that street | I |
Which is the shining street to hell | G |

There's light enough and strong enough | J |
To lighten every pleasant park | K |
I'm sorry lights are held so cheap | L |
I'd rather there were not a spark | K |
Than choose those shining ways for joy | M |
And have them lead me into dark | K |
