Painted Head Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEFG HIJK LMNO NAPQ ARST AUVU EAWW XTYT

By dark severance the apparition headA
Smiles from the air a capital on noB
Column or a Platonic perhaps headA
On a canvas sky depending from nothingC
-
Stirs up an old illusion of grandeurD
By tickling the instinct of heads to beE
Absolute and to try decapitationF
And to play truant from the body bushG
-
But too happy and beautiful for those sortsH
Of head homekeeping heads are happiestI
Discovers maybe thirty unwidowed yearsJ
Of not dishonoring the faithful stemK
-
Is nameless and has authored for the evilL
Historian headhunters neither bookM
Nor state and is therefore distinct from tartN
Heads with crowns and guilty gallery headsO
-
Wherefore the extravagant device of artN
Unhousing by abstraction this once headA
Was capital irony by a loving handP
That knew the no treason of a head like thisQ
-
Makes repentance in an unlovely headA
For having vinegarly traduced the fleshR
Till the hurt flesh recusing the hard eggS
Is shrunken to its own deathlike surfaceT
-
And an image thus The body bears the headA
So hardly one they terribly are twoU
Feeds and obeys and unto please what endV
Not to the glory of tyrant head but toU
-
The estate of body Beauty is of bodyE
The flesh contouring shallowly on a headA
Is a rock garden needing body's loveW
And best bodiness to colorifyW
-
The big blue birds sitting and sea shell catsX
And caves and on the iron acropolisT
To spread the hyacinthine hair and rearY
The olive garden for the nightingalesT
