Beautifully Janet sleptA
Till it was deeply morning She woke thenB
And thought about her dainty feathered henB
To see how it had keptA
-
-
One kiss she gave her motherC
Only a small one gave she to her daddyD
Who would have kissed each curl of his shining babyD
No kiss at all for her brotherC
-
-
Old Chucky Old Chucky she criedE
Running on little pink feet upon the grassF
To Chucky s house and listening But alasF
Her Chucky had diedE
-
-
It was a transmogrifying beeD
Came droning down on Chucky s old bald headG
And sat and put the poison It scarcely bledG
But how exceedinglyD
-
-
And purply did the knotH
Swell with the venom and communicateI
Its rigour Now the poor comb stood up straightI
But Chucky did notH
-
-
So there was JanetJ
Kneeling on the wet grass crying her brown henB
Translated far beyond the daughters of menB
To rise and walk upon itK
-
-
And weeping fast as she had breathL
Janet implored us Wake her from her sleepM
And would not be instructed in how deepM
Was the forgetful kingdom of deathL
