To The Clouds Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABBABBCACADEAEDFAF FDO painted clouds sweet beauties of the sky | A |
How have I view'd your motion and your rest | B |
When like fleet hunters ye have left mine eye | A |
In your thin gauze of woolly fleecing drest | B |
Or in your threaten'd thunder's grave black vest | B |
Like black deep waters slowly moving by | A |
Awfully striking the spectator's breast | B |
With your Creator's dread sublimity | B |
As admiration mutely views your storms | C |
And I do love to see you idly lie | A |
Painted by heav'n as various as your forms | C |
Pausing upon the eastern mountain high | A |
As morn awakes with spring's wood harmony | D |
And sweeter still when in your slumbers sooth | E |
You hang the western arch o'er day's proud eye | A |
Still as the even pool uncurv'd and smooth | E |
My gazing soul has look'd most placidly | D |
And higher still devoutly wish'd to strain | F |
To wipe your shrouds and sky's blue blinders by | A |
With all the warmness of a moon struck brain | F |
To catch a glimpse of Him who bids you reign | F |
And view the dwelling of all majesty | D |
