I was the centreA
The point where all our dreams startedB
And where the true reality originatedB
The part of me that wanted to keep usC
And the whole of me that was to hold usC
-
To our cause I was dedicatedB
The sense of my being shook with the pleasure of youD
The bible verse The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weakE
To me that was just a big jokeF
-
For my spirit was more than willingG
My flesh was fragile at the thought of youD
You always got me spinningG
My life was well structured for youD
-
That was the start of the fallH
I wanted to be everything for youD
That I forgot I was entitled to anythingG
I was to be your queenI
That I ignored I was born to reignJ
-
I left myself on the pathK
To be the way you would passL
I stayed up late at nightM
To watch you dreamN
-
It wasn't like I wasn't contented with that wayO
Or that I felt deprivedP
It wasn't like you didn't bring joy into my lifeQ
Or that you never appreciated meR
-
It was I couldn't be there anymoreS
It was I couldn't be that anymoreS
It was I couldn't be yours anymoreS
It was I couldn't be obscured anymoreS
-
I fadedB
I degradedB
I deterioratedT
I negatedT
In short I fellU
-
And when I fell we fellU
But that won't be too shocking to the world becauseV

Poet's note: When we love, we sometimes forget to love ourselves and when we dedicate time to others we sometimes forget we are worthy of being taken care of. This poem is to remind us never to abandon ourselves in our quest to love others. We deserve love and all good things life has to offer.
