I was made to feel inferiorA
Not superiorA
I was meant to be the debtorA
Not the creditorA
I wasn t meant to be the governorA
Neither the senatorA

But I m Black and I m proudB
For my colour is distinct within any crowdB

I m an AfricanC
A Sierra LeoneanC
I wasn t meant to be an AmericanC
Neither a EuropeanC
-
I was told I would make itD
Had my skin colour being lighterA
I asked what s the benefitD
Would my future be brighterA
-
I helped build the America we admireE
I was forced to be a slave that everyone could hireA
-
I don t need to be brown to be prettyF
To those involved I say What a pityF
I don t need a lotion or a creamG
To do what I want or to achieve my dreamG
