Time Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDDEEFGHIJKLMMJ NOONAAHHEEPPQQREESER

Time is the feather'd thingA
And whilst I praiseB
The sparklings of thy looks and call them raysB
Takes wingA
Leaving behind him as he fliesC
An unperceiv egrave d dimness in thine eyesC
His minutes whilst they're toldD
Do make us oldD
And every sand of his fleet glassE
Increasing age as it doth passE
Insensibly sows wrinkles thereF
Where flowers and roses do appearG
Whilst we do speak our fireH
Doth into ice expireI
Flames turn to frostJ
And ere we canK
Know how our crow turns swanL
Or how a silver snowM
Springs there where jet did growM
Our fading spring is in dull winter lostJ
Since then the Night hath hurl'dN
Darkness Love's shadeO
Over its enemy the Day and madeO
The worldN
Just such a blind and shapeless thingA
As 'twas before light did from darkness springA
Let us employ its treasureH
And make shade pleasureH
Let 's number out the hours by blissesE
And count the minutes by our kissesE
Let the heavens new motions feelP
And by our embraces wheelP
And whilst we try the wayQ
By which Love doth conveyQ
Soul unto soulR
And mingling soE
Makes them such raptures knowE
As makes them entranc egrave d lieS
In mutual ecstasyE
Let the harmonious spheres in music rollR
