Poppies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBCBDEBFC| This must be how it happens that the sun | A |
| Enlarges the boles that they become heavy | B |
| And bend on their stalks hanging singly | B |
| Or in pairs in the dry wind almost done | A |
| With swelling That the village women come | C |
| With their knives not cutting but lightly | B |
| Touching like a fingernail run slightly | B |
| Over a tender place that by turns is numb | C |
| And sensitive and begins to weep early | B |
| Out of a fullness it can barely contain | D |
| That to gather these tears they scrape with the tongue | E |
| Of a wooden knife while poppies prematurely | B |
| Burst and bloom all around them like opened veins | F |
| And what they are seeking is finally come | C |
