Mississinewa County Road Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLKB

When you drive at dusk aloneA
After the corn is harvested the windB
Scatters bits of dry husk along the roadC
A farmer has draped a groundhog's carcassD
Across the corner of a wire fenceE
And the crows have pecked out its eyesF
Your headlights show these thingsG
To a part of your mind that cannot hurryH
That has never learned to decideI
While the car goes on you get outJ
And stand with the chaff blowingK
And crickets in the grass at the road's edgeL
In the distance there is a dog barkingK
And somewhere a windmill turning in the windB
