Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCCEF GAHCIJK CLMACBNCCThe Man Who Taught Blake Painting in His Dreams | A |
- | |
is still around somewhere Survived the smoke | B |
and fires the footsteps melting into stone | C |
the city dark within its haze of time | D |
Endured somehow that face both epicene | C |
and bold with innocence though now withdrawn | C |
diminished paled like some further star | E |
to sit behind a stall near London Bridge | F |
- | |
Yet lasted since for painting lessons Blake | G |
in turn taught him to sing and in those dreams | A |
they labored over angels burning tigers | H |
bade their host prophetic spears cast down | C |
and joyously to praise the Lamb | I |
and found | J |
themselves still dreaming charmed outside their dream | K |
- | |
Blake sailed away for on each cobblestone | C |
or casement glimmered visions of that realm | L |
and madly through the streets he danced and sang | M |
The man who taught him painting in his dreams | A |
was left alone | C |
Around him coiled the smoke | B |
he watches through today from park bench pub | N |
or moving bus listening for that strain | C |
alone empowered to dream him back again | C |
