Waterfall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQSmooth to the shelving brink a copious flood | A |
Rolls fair and placid where collected all | B |
In one impetuous torrent down the steep | C |
It thundering shoots and shakes the country round | D |
At first an azure sheet it rushes broad | E |
Then whitening by degrees as prone it falls | F |
And from the loud resounding rocks below | G |
Dash'd in a cloud of foam it sends aloft | H |
A hoary mist and forms a ceaseless shower | I |
Nor can the tortured wave here find repose | J |
But raging still amid the shaggy rocks | K |
Now flashes o'er the scatter'd fragments now | L |
Aslant the hollow channel rapid darts | M |
And falling fast from gradual slope to slope | N |
With wild infracted course and lessen'd roar | O |
It gains a safer bed and steals at last | P |
Along the mazes of a quiet vale | Q |
