To Seraphina Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAADDEFGHIIJJKK FEThe wanton's charms however bright | A |
Are like the false illusive light | A |
Whose flattering unauspicious blaze | B |
To precipices oft betrays | B |
But that sweet ray your beauties dart | C |
Which clears the mind and cleans the heart | C |
Is like the sacred queen of night | A |
Who pours a lovely gentle light | A |
Wide o'er the dark by wanderers blest | D |
Conducting them to peace and rest | D |
A vicious love depraves the mind | E |
'Tis anguish guilt and folly joined | F |
But Seraphina's eyes dispense | G |
A mild and gracious influence | H |
Such as in visions angels shed | I |
Around the heaven illumined head | I |
To love thee Seraphina sure | J |
Is to be tender happy pure | J |
'Tis from low passions to escape | K |
And woo bright virtue's fairest shape | K |
'Tis ecstasy with wisdom joined | F |
And heaven infused into the mind | E |
