To Love (amanda) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH

Sweet tyrant Love but hear me nowA
And cure while young this pleasing smartB
Or rather aid my trembling vowA
And teach me to reveal my heartB
-
Tell her whose goodness is my baneC
Whose looks have smiled my peace awayD
Oh whisper how she gives me painC
Whilst undesigning frank and gayD
-
'Tis not for common charms I sighE
For what the vulgar beauty callF
'Tis not a cheek a lip an eyeE
But 'tis the soul that lights them allF
-
For that I drop the tender tearG
For that I make this artless moanH
Oh sigh it Love into her earI
And make the bashful lover knownH
