To His Royal Highness The Prince Of Wales Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEFEGH IJIJKK LMNMOO PKPKQQ

While secret leaguing nations frown aroundA
Ready to pour the long expected stormB
While she who wont the restless Gaul to boundA
Britannia drooping grows an empty formB
While on our vitals selfish parties preyC
And deep corruption eats our soul awayC
-
Yet in the Goddess of the Main appearsD
A gleam of joy gay flushing every graceE
As she the cordial voice of millions hearsF
Rejoicing zealous o'er thy rising raceE
Straight her rekindling eyes resume their fireG
The Virtues smile the Muses tune the lyreH
-
But more enchanting than the Muse's songI
United Britons thy dear offspring hailJ
The city triumphs through her glowing throngI
The shepherd tells his transport to the daleJ
The sons of roughest toil forget their painK
And the glad sailor cheers the midnight mainK
-
Can aught from fair Augusta's gentle bloodL
And thine thou friend of liberty be bornM
Can aught save what is lovely generous goodN
What will at once defend us and adornM
From thence prophetic joy new Edwards eyesO
New Henries Annas and Elizas riseO
-
May fate my fond devoted days extendP
To sing the promised glories of thy reignK
What though by years depressed my muse might bendP
My heart will teach her still a nobler strainK
How with recovered Britain will she soarQ
When France insults and Spain shall rob no moreQ
