Through Foulest Fogs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHH

THROUGH foulest fogs of my own sluggish soulA
Through midnight glooms of all the wide world's guiltB
Through sulphurous cannon clouds that surge and rollA
Above the steam of blood in anger spiltB
Through all the sombre earth oppressing pilesC
Of old cathedral temples which expandD
Sepulchral vaults and monumental aislesC
Hopeless and freezing in the lifeful landD
I gaze and seek with ever longing eyesE
For God the Love Supreme all wise all goodF
Alas in vain for over all the skiesE
A dark and awful shadow seems to broodG
A numbing infinite eternal gloomH
I tremble in the consciousness of DoomH
