Chief when it taints a lawless monarch's mind | A |
To the false herd of flattering slaves confined | A |
The soul sinks gradual to so dire a state | H |
E'en excellence but serves to feed its hate | H |
To hate remorseless cruelty succeeds | I |
And every worth and every virtue bleeds | I |

Faults he has many but to balance those | J |
