Hymn To God's Power Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHG IGIG JKJK ILMG NONO PIPI

Hail Power Divine who by thy sole commandA
From the dark empty spaceB
Made the broad sea and solid landA
Smile with a heavenly graceB
-
Made the high mountain and firm rockC
Where bleating cattle strayD
And the strong stately spreading oakE
That intercepts the dayD
-
The rolling planets thou madest moveF
By thy effective willG
And the revolving globes aboveH
Their destined cours fulfilG
-
His mighty power ye thunders praiseI
As through the heavens ye rollG
And his great name ye lightnings blazeI
Unto the distant poleG
-
Ye seas in your eternal roarJ
His sacred praise proclaimK
While the inactive sluggish shoreJ
Re echoes to the sameK
-
Ye howling winds howl out his praiseI
And make the forests bowL
While through the air the earth and seasM
His solemn praise ye blowG
-
O yon high harmonious spheresN
Your powerful mover singO
To him your circling course that steersN
Your tuneful praises bringO
-
Ungrateful mortals catch the soundP
And in your numerous laysI
To all the listening world aroundP
The God of nature praiseI
