Evening In Summer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLCMNOPQRS TUODVWXWConfess'd from yonder slow extinguish'd clouds | A |
All ether softening sober Evening takes | B |
Her wonted station in the middle air | C |
She sends on earth then that of deeper dye | D |
Steals soft behind and then a deeper still | E |
In circle following circle gathers round | F |
To close the face of things A fresher gale | G |
Begins to wave the wood and stir the stream | H |
Sweeping with shadowy gust the fields of corn | I |
While the quail clamours for his running mate | J |
Wide o'er the thistly lawn as swells the breeze | K |
A whitening shower of vegetable down | L |
Amusive floats The kind impartial care | C |
Of Nature nought disdains thoughtful to feed | M |
Her lowest songs and clothe the coming year | N |
From field to field the feather'd seed she wings | O |
Among the crooked lanes on every hedge | P |
The glowworm lights his gem and through the dark | Q |
A moving radiance twinkles Evening yields | R |
The world to Night not in her winter robe | S |
Of massy Stygian woof but loose array'd | T |
In mantle dun A faint erroneous ray | U |
Glanced from th' imperfect surfaces of things | O |
Flings half an image on the straining eye | D |
While wavering woods and villages and streams | V |
And rocks and mountain tops that long retain'd | W |
Th' ascending gleam are all one swimming scene | X |
Uncertain if beheld | W |
