Evening In Summer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLCMNOPQRS TUODVWXW

Confess'd from yonder slow extinguish'd cloudsA
All ether softening sober Evening takesB
Her wonted station in the middle airC
She sends on earth then that of deeper dyeD
Steals soft behind and then a deeper stillE
In circle following circle gathers roundF
To close the face of things A fresher galeG
Begins to wave the wood and stir the streamH
Sweeping with shadowy gust the fields of cornI
While the quail clamours for his running mateJ
Wide o'er the thistly lawn as swells the breezeK
A whitening shower of vegetable downL
Amusive floats The kind impartial careC
Of Nature nought disdains thoughtful to feedM
Her lowest songs and clothe the coming yearN
From field to field the feather'd seed she wingsO
Among the crooked lanes on every hedgeP
The glowworm lights his gem and through the darkQ
A moving radiance twinkles Evening yieldsR
The world to Night not in her winter robeS
Of massy Stygian woof but loose array'dT
In mantle dun A faint erroneous rayU
Glanced from th' imperfect surfaces of thingsO
Flings half an image on the straining eyeD
While wavering woods and villages and streamsV
And rocks and mountain tops that long retain'dW
Th' ascending gleam are all one swimming sceneX
Uncertain if beheldW
