Death Of The Stag Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST UVFWOXYJZF

The stag too singled from the herd where longA
He ranged the branching monarch of the shadeB
Before the tempest drives At first in speedC
He sprightly puts his faith and roused by fearD
Gives all his swift aerial soul to flightE
Against the breeze he darts that way the moreF
To leave the lessening murderous cry behindG
He bursts the thickets glances through the gladesH
And plunges deep into the wildest woodI
If slow yet sure adhesive to the trackJ
Hot steaming up behind him come againK
The inhuman rout and from the shady depthL
Expel him circling through his every shiftM
He sweeps the forest oft and sobbing seesN
The glades mild opening to the golden dayO
Where in kind contest with his butting friendsP
He wont to struggle or his loves enjoyQ
Oft in the full descending flood he triesR
To lose the scent and lave his burning sidesS
Oft seeks the herd the watchful herd alarm'dT
With selfish care avoids a brother's woeU
What shall he do His once so vivid nervesV
So full of buoyant spirits now no moreF
Inspire the course but fainting breathless toilW
Sick seizes on his heart he stands at bayO
And puts his last weak refuge in despairX
The big round tears run down his dappled faceY
He groans in anguish while the growling packJ
Blood happy hang at his fair jutting chestZ
And mark his beauteous chequer'd sides with goreF
