Wild Goose Shot At Midnight, Nov., 1888 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFH IJIJ

From the regions of the northA
Where the waters now are frozenB
Towards the south they issue forthA
A flock of wild geese of four dozenB
-
But when they flew o'er the river ThamesC
They swooped down to take a diveD
But sport with shot gun at them aimsE
And one at least did not surviveD
-
And he now says it tasted fineF
And that it was both fat and bigG
A hungry man did on it dineF
Satisfied with just one legH
-
He was sorry fowl to killI
But they awoke him from his slumberJ
The air with cackle they did fillI
And thus they lost one of their numberJ
