Lines on the naming of Victoria Park on Queen's BirthdayA
The ceremony was performed by Thomas BrownB
Esq Mayor of the townB
-
Come one come all to Scottish gamesC
On the banks of Canadian ThamesD
You'll find that 'tis most pleasant wayA
You can enjoy the Queen's BirthdayA
-
In future years it will be famedE
The day whereon the park was namedE
With its boundry great extendedF
And nature's charms sweetly blendedF
-
Full worthy of the poet's themeG
Is hill and dale and wood and streamG
And glittering spires and busy townB
Where mansions' do each mount top crownB
-
Come witness the great tug of warH
And the great hammer thrown afarI
See running jumping highland flingJ
At concert hear the sky lark singJ
-
And the bagpipes will send thrillsK
Like echoes from the distant hillsK
And the bold sound of the pibrochL
Which does resound o'er Scottish lochL
-
Young men and maids and fine old damesC
Will gather on the banks of ThamesD
And though we have a tug of warH
'Twill leave no wound or deadly scarI
