United States Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG HHII DDJJ KLMM DDNN OODD

The United States is wondrous landA
Within its mighty borders grandA
They are a world unto themselvesB
In South the Negro plows and delvesB
-
Raising tobacco sugar cottonC
Grapes and rice too may be gottenC
The west for corn cattle and swineD
On which millions o'er the world dineD
-
The silver hills of ColoradoE
Equaled only by NevadaF
And o'er the world you can't beholdG
Aught like California's mines of goldG
-
To vast extent her exports reachesH
Of grapes and oranges and peachesH
And Florida the land of flowersI
Is famous for its orange bowersI
-
Pennsylvania's hills environD
Wondrous mines of coal and ironD
Great marvel of these modern daysJ
All you require yourselves could raiseJ
-
But still Canadians are contentK
With their own half of continentL
Though Uncle Sam is most wealthyM
Canada's content and healthyM
-
Sam and her are blood relationD
Sprung alike from British nationD
May peaceful odes alone be sungN
'Tween people of one race and tongueN
-
When Canada's ten million strongO
Then none will dare to do her wrongO
Either as a youthful nationD
Or in Imperial FederationD
