Tom Moore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEE FFGGHHIIJJKKLLMM NNOOGGPQ

Moore found the ballads of Green IsleA
Were oft obscured beneath the soilB
As miner digging in a mineC
Finds rubbish 'mong the gold so fineC
So Moore placed dross in the waste basketD
And enshrined jewels in casketD
Where all may view each charming gemE
In Ireland's grand old diademE
-
In eastern lands his fame prevailsF
In wondrous Oriental talesF
So full of gems his Lala RookhG
Hindoos and Bramins read his bookG
And dark eyed Persian girls admireH
The beauties of his magic lyreH
Glowing like pearls of great priceI
Those distant gleams of ParadiseI
He sang of Bryan Borohm's gloryJ
Renowned in ancient Irish storyJ
And shows the wide expanded wallsK
Which once encircled Tara's HallsK
When joyous harp did there resoundL
And Ireland's greatest king was crownedL
All wars and tumults then did ceaseM
Ireland did prosper great in peaceM
-
He sung of meeting of the watersN
And of Ireland's charming daughtersN
Great minstrel from his harp both flowsO
Ireland's triumphs and her woesO
Canada doth his fame prolongG
While she doth sing his great boat songG
And his own countrymen adoreP
The genial witty bright Tom MooreQ
