Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEEFFGHIIJJKLMM MMMMMMFFNOMMPPFFFFQQ RRFF

Worthy of either song or storyA
Are the Shires found Frith of MorayB
Here lies the valley of StrathspeyC
Famed for its music lively gayB
Elgin cathedral's 'prentice aisleD
Is glory of that ruined pileD
What modern chisel now could traceE
Fine scuplture of that ancient placeE
And Forres famed for Sweyn's staneF
In honor of that kingly DaneF
'Graved with warriors' runes and rhymeG
Long prior to historic timesH
For a thousand years it's been forgotI
Who was victor Dane or ScotI
It is the country of MacbethJ
Where good King Duncan met his deathJ
And Barren Heath that place of fearK
Stood witches' cauldron of ShakespeareL
Nairn's Cawdor Castle strong remainsM
Full worthy of the ancient ThanesM
And nestled 'neath the hills and bensM
Queen of the moors the loch's and glensM
Full proudly stands in vale of blissM
Chief Highland town of InvernessM
Near here the famous Falls of FoyersM
Where Burns and others tuned their lyresM
And the fatal field of dark CullodenF
Where doughty clans wore once down troddenF
Here men yet wear the tartan plaidN
Ready to join the Highland BrigadeO
And when the Frith you look acrossM
The eye beholds Sutherland and RossM
Where Duke hath harnessed mighty teamP
Plows hills and rocks and moors by steamP
Perhaps it may in part atoneF
For cruel clearings days by goneF
And Cromarty whose wondrous masonF
First learned his geologic lessonF
Friends may rear a stately pillarQ
The ' Old Red Sandstone ' of Hugh MillerQ
Ben Wyvis towers like monarch crownedR
Conspicious o'er the hills aroundR
With crest e'er white with driven snowF
Strathpeffer's water cure belowF
