The Joys Of Prairie Farmers 1884 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFFGGHHIIJHKK LM

We let Ontario farmers singA
About the joys the woods do bringA
But we in regions of NorthwestB
Do think prairie farms the bestB
For those poor men who swing the axeC
On their strength 'tis a heavy taxC
For several years they naught can growD
While from the first we plow and sowE
And while we plow we don't get thumpsF
By running it against the stumpsF
And where wild Buffalo now doth feedG
There very soon they'll sow the seedG
Where Indian wigwams now do standH
Will be the site of cities grandH
And where the deer and wolf doth roamI
Millions will build each happy homeI
So quick as if by magic wandJ
They will arise o'er the whole landH
But this one fact we won't denyK
Ontario she can supplyK
For so skilfully she doth inventL
Each agricultural implementM
