The Joys Of Prairie Farmers 1884 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFFGGHHIIJHKK LMWe let Ontario farmers sing | A |
About the joys the woods do bring | A |
But we in regions of Northwest | B |
Do think prairie farms the best | B |
For those poor men who swing the axe | C |
On their strength 'tis a heavy tax | C |
For several years they naught can grow | D |
While from the first we plow and sow | E |
And while we plow we don't get thumps | F |
By running it against the stumps | F |
And where wild Buffalo now doth feed | G |
There very soon they'll sow the seed | G |
Where Indian wigwams now do stand | H |
Will be the site of cities grand | H |
And where the deer and wolf doth roam | I |
Millions will build each happy home | I |
So quick as if by magic wand | J |
They will arise o'er the whole land | H |
But this one fact we won't deny | K |
Ontario she can supply | K |
For so skilfully she doth invent | L |
Each agricultural implement | M |
