Thanksgiving Ode, November 15th, 1888 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDE FFGG CCHH IIJJ

September came and with it frostA
The season's pasture it seemed lostA
And the wondrous yield of cornB
Of its green beauty it was shornB
-
Frost it came like early robberC
But gentle rains came in OctoberC
Which were absorbed by grateful soilD
With green once more the pastures smileE
-
And cows again are happy seenF
Enjoying of the pastures greenF
And flow of milk again they yieldG
From the sweet feed of grassy fieldG
-
And we have now a fine NovemberC
Warmer far than in SeptemberC
The apple which is queen of fruitsH
Was a good crop and so is rootsH
-
The rains they did replenish springsI
And it gratitude to each heart bringsI
When we reflect on bounteous seasonJ
For grateful feelings all have reasonJ
