An unruly horse did o'er him pass | C |

To a soft cot in back of store | E |

And brought from hospital ward | F |
A skilful nurse the lad to guard | G |
She often listened for his breath | H |
As he was passing the vale of death | H |

But poor child once he ope'd his eyes | I |
And he looked round in great surprise | I |
Feebly he asked heaving a sigh | J |
Where in the world now am I | J |

The tender nurse bent o'er his face | K |
And said dear boy you're in good place | K |
She asked his name he said it was Tom | L |
And that for long he had no home | M |

And since his mother was stricken dead | N |
He had not once reposed in bed | N |
And while suffering child did rack | D |
He eagerly asked will mother come back | D |

The nurse she gently answered no | O |
But to your dear mother you can go | O |
In his last sleep he had a dream | P |
Shining up boots it was his theme | P |

He soon awoke and called out mother | Q |
I see you and little brother | Q |
Christ I know has me forgiven | R |
For they are beckoning me to Heaven | R |
