Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDEEFG HHIIJJKK LLHHHHMMNNOOPPHQLines delivered at housewarming of Salford Parsonage | A |
- | |
Your pastor's fame first got abroad | B |
By his success on Culloden Road | C |
He filled the church so that the fold | D |
No longer it the flock would hold | D |
But soon a larger church did rise | E |
With fine neat tower points to the skies | E |
When you o'erwhelmed with ruin dire | F |
Did lose your parsonage by fire | G |
- | |
To his call with generous bounty | H |
You built best parsonage in county | H |
But some good people in the town | I |
At this idea they might frown | I |
Unless we made this correction | J |
The best in a rural section | J |
Your pastor he doth vigorous push | K |
He's not afraid to enter bush | K |
- | |
And 'tis a fact there's very few | L |
With him can stick of timber hew | L |
Ready for to superintend | H |
Or a helping hand to lend | H |
When bold man's wanted at the front | H |
You've but to call on Reverend Hunt | H |
In pulpit he conviction darts | M |
And points the way to troubled hearts | M |
But solemn thoughts we won't employ | N |
As this is all a scene of joy | N |
Maids and matrons all charming | O |
Do grace this pleasant house warming | O |
Here people come from near and far | P |
To purchase goods at this bazar | P |
And all is happiness and glee | H |
At festival of this soiree | Q |
