Poetry Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBAACCBB DDEEFFGGHHII

Poetry to us is givenA
As stars beautify the heavenA
Or as the sunbeams when they gleamB
Sparkling so bright upon the streamB
And the poetry of motionA
Is ship sailing o'er the oceanA
Or when the bird doth graceful flyC
Seeming to float upon the skyC
For poetry is the pure creamB
And essence of the common themeB
-
Poetic thoughts the mind doth fillD
When on broad plain to view a hillD
On barren heath how it doth cheerE
To see in distance herd of deerE
And poetry breathes in each flowerF
Nourished by the gentle showerF
In song of birds upon the treesG
And humming of busy beesG
'Tis solace for the ills of lifeH
A soothing of the jars and strifeH
For poets feel it a dutyI
To sing of both worth and beautyI
