O'er cropped the weary land grew poor | E |
And nearly barren as a moor | F |
But now the owners live at ease | C |
Rejoicing in their crop of cheese | C |

Are well rewarded for their toil | G |
The land enriched by goodly cows | H |
Yie'ds plenty now to fill their mows | H |
Both wheat and barley oats and peas | C |
But still their greatest boast is cheese | C |

With good provender for your cows | H |
And in the winter keep them warm | I |
Protect them safe all time from harm | J |
For cows do dearly love their ease | C |
