Some have formed strange conceptions about the mysteries of our order | B |
They believe that enshrouded 'mong the deep and mysterious | C |
surroundings of our dark recesses and caves we have chained | D |
'Gorgans and Hydras and Chimeras dire ' and that in our mazes | E |
and labyrinths | E |

A horrid goat we have to ride | F |
With long horns and shaggy hide | F |
And that the beast we have to stride well | G |
Without saddle or a bridle | H |

Friends with pleasure we do meet you | I |
And with hearty welcome greet you | I |
With many we have met before | J |
So pleasantly in days of yore | J |

But some new faces we do find | K |
And hope they'll criticise us kind | K |

Abroad for talent we don't roam | L |
But friends and neighbors here at home | L |
- | |
Will give us now a splendid treat | M |
With speeches good and songs so sweet | M |
And instruments whose soothing charms | E |
Will banish cares and our alarms | E |

In friendly deeds they lead the van | N |
Both Oxford and Samaritan | O |
To relieve brothers in distress | E |
And bounteously the widows bless | E |
