Oddfellowship In Woodstock Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAADEFFGGHHIIAA JIKK

Well tell a tale it shall be briefA
It is of rise of Maple LeafA
From noble Olive Branch it sprungB
And its good deeds shall yet be sungB
This Encampment though in its youthC
Glories in friendship love and truthC
Of all our lodges yet the chiefA
May be this youthful Maple LeafA
Built of good timber it doth launchD
Well worthy of the Olive BranchE
And though it only is a shootF
We hope that it will take deep rootF
And soon be vigorous Maple treeG
In Canada so broad and freeG
And may its usefulness ne'er ceaseH
Sprung from the Olive Branch of peaceH
But comfort brothers in distressI
Widows and orphans it will blessI
And console them in their griefA
Protected by the Maple LeafA
Poor travellers in the wildernessJ
They oft do suffer great distressI
But may no pilgrim get rude shockK
Sojourning here in WoodstockK
