Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEFGG HHHHIIJJKL MMNNOGOPPWe look in vain for our past grands | A |
Now scattered over many lands | A |
For some o'er the wide world doth rove | B |
And some have joined Grand Lodge above | C |
But ever since Father Adam's fall | D |
We are dependent creatures all | D |
Though man is weak yet he may join | E |
With others strength for to combine | F |
A single rod is easily broken | G |
Bundle is of strength the token | G |
- | |
The illustration it was grand | H |
Which was given by Reverend Bland | H |
Five Oddfellows all in one hand | H |
And yet they all united stand | H |
Each finger hath a different length | I |
Each finger varies in its strength | I |
Each one is weak but a firm fist | J |
You can scarcely break or twist | J |
Tis same with members of a Lodge | K |
United them you cannot budge | L |
- | |
Then let us linked with friendly chain | M |
Friendship love and truth maintain | M |
And aid our brothers in distress | N |
The widows and the orphans bless | N |
Then let each Lodge strive all it can | O |
Both Oxford and Samaritan | G |
To aid distressed brother man | O |
Extending influence for good | P |
And universal brotherhood | P |
