Oddfellowship In Ingersoll Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEFGG HHHHIIJJKL MMNNOGOPP

We look in vain for our past grandsA
Now scattered over many landsA
For some o'er the wide world doth roveB
And some have joined Grand Lodge aboveC
But ever since Father Adam's fallD
We are dependent creatures allD
Though man is weak yet he may joinE
With others strength for to combineF
A single rod is easily brokenG
Bundle is of strength the tokenG
-
The illustration it was grandH
Which was given by Reverend BlandH
Five Oddfellows all in one handH
And yet they all united standH
Each finger hath a different lengthI
Each finger varies in its strengthI
Each one is weak but a firm fistJ
You can scarcely break or twistJ
Tis same with members of a LodgeK
United them you cannot budgeL
-
Then let us linked with friendly chainM
Friendship love and truth maintainM
And aid our brothers in distressN
The widows and the orphans blessN
Then let each Lodge strive all it canO
Both Oxford and SamaritanG
To aid distressed brother manO
Extending influence for goodP
And universal brotherhoodP
