Niagara's Charms And Death Of Webb Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGHHII JJKKLMNHOO PPPPQQFFRRKK

Gazing on rapids mighty seaA
Struggling fiercely to be freeA
But drawn downwards in its courseB
By gravitation's wondrous forceB
O'er those perpendicular wallsC
Hurled 'mong mighty rocks it fallsC
Causing the earth to throb and shakeD
Like to the tremor of earthquakeD
-
Thus the world's greatest wonderE
Reverberates like peals of thunderE
Enshrined with mist and beauteous glowF
Of varied tints of the rainbowF
Most glorious sight the human eyeG
Hath ever seen beneath the skyG
Along these banks none ever trodH
But did feel grateful to his GodH
For lavishing with bounteous handI
Glories majestic and so grandI
-
The foaming billows soon are seenJ
Transformed into a beauteous greenJ
Plunged by whirlpools dread commotionK
It becomes a seething oceanK
Where furies join in surging danceL
From centre to circumferenceM
This is the favorite abodeN
Of Neptune mightiest sea GodH
He hath decreed none shall surviveO
Who will into this vortex diveO
-
Webb swam the English channel braveP
Like seabird he did love to laveP
His breast upon the mightiest waveP
Alas found here a watery graveP
Torrent onward rushes franticQ
On its course to the AtlanticQ
But on its way doth gently flowF
Through blue lake OntarioF
Rejoicing on its way it smilesR
Kissing the shores of Thousand IslesR
Mingling with St Lawrance motionK
It soon is blended with the oceanK
